Applying for a student visa
You can apply for your student visa using either a letter of offer or a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from your education provider, but you usually need to supply evidence of your CoE before your student visa is granted. Applications are typically lodged online, although you may be able to apply by post or in person at your designated Australian visa office. The amount of evidence you are required to provide with your application will depend on your country of origin and intended education provider.
Course packaging
Students can apply for two or more courses on the same student visa when there is clear progression from one course to the next. The final course a student undertakes is classified as their main (or principal) course of study and is used to determine evidentiary requirements.
Fees and charges
A non-refundable base application charge of AUD$575 applies to most visa applications. Applicants who are bringing eligible family members to live with them in Australia while they study should note that an additional applicant charge applies for each additional family member included in a combined visa application. This charge is added to the base application charge and varies according to the age of the additional applicant(s). In addition, there may be other expenses associated with your visa application, such as costs for medical examinations, police checks and the translation of documents into English (if required).

Canada

The process for obtaining a Canadian student visa is as follows:
You must first obtain a standardized letter of acceptance from a recognized higher education provider. Students studying in Quebec must also apply for a certificate of acceptance, known as a CAQ, from the government of Quebec. You must acquire this before you are permitted to apply for a study permit. You can get this online, by printing out a form, or by requesting a paper form from your university, which will also provide advice on this subject.
The next stage is to get a Canadian student visa application package, either from the CIC website or by contacting your local visa office, or the Canadian embassy or consulate in your home country.
In order to get your application package you’ll need to answer a few questions about yourself on the CIC website. These questions will determine whether you are eligible to apply online for a Canadian student permit, and what documents you’ll need to provide.
If you are found eligible, you will receive a personal checklist code, valid for 60 days, which you will need in order to submit your application online. Once you have your documents and application form ready and have paid your fees, you can submit your completed application to CIC.
USA
https://www.usa.gov/study-in-us
A Non-immigrant admitted to the United States to pursue full-time academic or vocational studies are usually admitted in one of two non-immigrant categories. The F-1 category includes academic students in colleges, universities, seminaries, conservatories, academic high schools, other academic institutions, and in language training. The M-1 category includes vocational students.
Prerequisites are health, no criminal record, ability to be financially independent and the intention to leave the USA after completion of your studies.
Medical requirements contain vaccinations, an HIV test and an x-ray of the chest.
There are three types of student visas:
F1 – Student Visa: The F1 visa is for full-time students enrolled in an academic or language program. A full-time course load must be maintained and the studies must be completed by the expiration date listed on the I-20 form. Students get an extra 60 days at the end of their stay.
J1 – Exchange Visitor Visa: J-1 visas get issued to individuals who take part in a wide range of a exchange visitor programs sponsored by schools, businesses, and a variety of organizations and institutions. These programs are envisioned for business and industrial trainees, scholars, students, international visitors, teachers, research assistants and on cultural missions. In addition, there are several exchange visitor programs for young people, including summer employment programs, internship programs for university students, and au-pair programs.
M1 – Vocational Student Visa: The M1 visa is issued for students attending non-academic trade and vocational schools. It is valid for one year. Students may not change their field of study or switch to a F1 visa.
In most circumstances, you will succeed in getting an F, M, or J visa only if you apply in your home country and only if you apply at the visa post (embassy or consulate) nearest your home. Exceptions are made for students who actually reside in countries other than their own, or who have permission to stay in another country for an extended period of time; also students who have no U. S. consular office in their home country.
You must complete a visa application form and present both your Form I-20 or IAP-66 and the same financial documentation you provided to your school. The consul may ask you for other documents. The I 20 is issued by the institution that you plan to attend, if this institution is convinced that you have the academic and financial resources to study in the USA. You will also need form OF-156, a valid passport, a 1 ½ inch square color photograph showing full face and one ear (no earrings or glasses) against a light background, and the visa processing fee.
Be aware that visas get denied if the application was presented in a poor manner. Prepare carefully and know what you want to talk about to the consul.
UK
https://www.gov.uk/higher-education-courses-find-and-apply
The United Kingdom is one of the world’s most popular postgraduate study destinations. In fact, with over 400,000 international students the UK is second only to the USA for study abroad. Institutions that offer degree-level courses in the UK are called either ‘recognised’ or ‘listed’ bodies. Recognised bodies are higher learning institutions that can award degrees. Listed bodies can’t award degrees themselves. If you study a degree course at a listed body, your degree will be awarded by a recognised body.
The UK uses a points-based system for international student visas. This means that you will need to satisfy a series of criteria in order to earn enough ‘points’ for a study visa.
In practice the system is not complicated. Provided you have been accepted at a recognised university, have appropriate qualifications and are able to support yourself financially, your application should be successful
The most common visa for international students entering the UK is the Tier 4 Student Visa. This is a points-based system.
As a Tier 4 (General) student, you must have 40 points to qualify.
You can score:
- 30 points for having a valid confirmation of acceptance for studies, which you get for studying a course at an acceptable level with an approved education provider (also known as a ‘Tier 4 sponsor’), and for having acceptable English language skills; and
- 10 points for having enough money (also known as maintenance or funds) to cover your course fees and living costs
